Turkey joins the cruelty-free movement by launching its very first 100% vegan hotel in the Olympos region of Antalya, the country’s resort city.
The Vegan Lodge is a 34-room hotel within 30 acres of beautiful land featuring standard corner rooms and garden rooms for 2 adults and family rooms for adults and their children.
It also features a gym, yoga hall, 2 swimming pools, and a beach nearby as well as activities such as fitness classes and culinary workshops.
“I see how difficult it is for vegans to have a hassle-free holiday, especially in foreign countries when they have to explain what vegans eat and do not eat,” said Emre Dilek, owner of the Vegan Lodge.
“I aim to show guests that a comfortable and enjoyable holiday that doesn’t harm the environment and other species is possible.”
Guests can expect a 100% plant-based menu featuring Mediterranean-style cuisine including falafel, pasta, homemade burgers, and grain bowls for lunch as well as buffet-style breakfast platters, salads, pastries, and hot appetizers.
All rooms, amenities, and materials such as decoration, toiletries, and cleaning materials are also 100% plant based and sustainable.
The hotel is environmentally friendly as it uses solar energy to heat the water and all rooms and grows its own chemical-free vegetables and fruits such as olives, pomegranates, and other fruit trees, which will be served to hotel guests.
Garden and other organic wastes are converted into organic compost, which will be used as fertilizers.
“Our concept is to reduce the carbon footprint to the lowest level possible, whilst also providing a second to none holiday atmosphere without harm to the environment but at the same time not needing to sacrifice any of the usual comfort and enjoyment that you require from your getaway,” explains Dilek in the Vegan Lodge website.
“We proudly invite you to enjoy this special holiday concept which is completely vegan based.”
This year, the Hilton Hotel also decided to become cruelty free by launching its first luxury all-vegan suite in the UK, which also features a 100% vegan menu and materials.
The Vegan Lodge will be opening its doors to guests in March 2019.
