Spain: several people trapped in the rubble when a building collapses

A three-story building collapsed this Wednesday in the Spanish town of Peñíscola, in the Valencian Community, and there are people trapped, according to sources from the firefighters.

The incident, the causes of which are unknown at the moment, occurred in a building of about twenty departments located in that coastal city.

Five crews of firefighters were transferred to the place, as well as personnel from the rescue and rescue units, the canine unit and the machinery and logistics unit, according to the same sources.

The mayor of Peñíscola, Andrés Martínez, confirmed in statements to La Sexta that both police officers, firefighters and the Civil Guard are carrying out rescue work at the scene of the accident.

“In addition, medical services are also pending in the event that people who are trapped are found alive.”
