Rick Aiello, son of the remembered Danny Aiello, died of pancreatic cancer Monday at a hospital in upstate New York. He was 65 years old and an actor, like his father.
Aiello worked in more than sixty movies and series, the most remembered of which is Do the Right Thing, by Spike Lee, in which he appeared alongside his father. For that 1989 classic, Danny received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Salvatore Sal Fragione.
For his part, Rick played Officer Long, a role that he would reprise two years later in Love fever and madness, also from Lee.

A long trajectory
Rick Aiello also had major characters in various titles. Among them are Remedy (2005), de Christian Maelen; A Brooklyn State of Mind (1998), by Frank Rainone; y 29th Street (1991), by George Gallo. In those last two too shared cast with his father Danny.
In addition, he headlined the series Dellaventura and had supporting roles in others, such as The Sopranos, Law and order, Sex and the City, Ugly Betty, Renegade, Tales from the Crypt, Angel Street, Dark Justice, Marker, NYPD Blue, Strange Luck, Diagnosis Murder, Clueless, Early Edition, 18 Wheels of Justice, VIP, Special command and many more.
Aiello Jr. also appeared in TV movies like The Preppie Murder, Murder in Paradise, Knights of the Kitchen Table, K-9000, Parker Kane, Brother’s Destiny, Hollywood Confidential Y The Don’s Analyst.
He also participated in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (1992), by David Lynch, and acted alongside Sylvester Stallone in Reach Me (2014), de John Herzfeld.

According to Rick’s mother, Sandy, to the TMZ portal, her son died on Monday night surrounded by loved ones in a hospital in Warwick (New York). There was fought the disease for about a year and a half.
Sadly, Rick’s older brother Danny Aiello III, who served as a stunt coordinator in the audiovisual industry, also died of pancreatic cancer in 2010.
