Animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) announced the winners of its top 10 vegan burgers in the US for 2019.

PETA’s Top 10 Golden Burger Awards was only open to restaurants throughout the US that make their own original vegan burgers.

The top 10 burgers were chosen after rounding up the nominations and reviewing the reports from the organization’s “coast-to-coast taste-testing mission.”

American fast food chain Burgerlords got a spot in the list as Californians seem to prefer its “Double Vegan Cheeseburger” based on the huge number of nominations.

The burger is made from “mushrooms, eggplants, cashews, barley, garbanzo beans, celery, leeks, and our top secret spice blend” along with Follow Your Heart vegan American cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles, and Thousand Island dressing — all in a toasted sponge bun.

Arlo’s, known for its plant-based comfort food for the nightlife scene in Texas, also nabbed a spot for its “Bac’n Cheezeburger.”

It is made with in-house soy- and gluten-free burger patty stacked with seitan “bacon,” melted vegan cheese, tomato, onions, lettuce, pickles, ketchup, and mustard.

Cheese lovers also have the option to top the vegan burger with plant-based mac “n” cheese.

Vegetarian fast food spot Superiority Burger‘s “Vegan Superiority Burger” has been proven to be a huge hit as it was also nominated by many burger lovers.

“Everyone LOVES Superiority Burger in NYC. Seriously, people (including meat-eaters) go nuts for it,” a diner who nominated the burger told PETA.

Green New American Vegetarian‘s “Big WAC” — featuring two homemade vegan patties, lettuce, pickles, onions, vegan cheese, and a secret “special sauce” all in a sesame seed bun — has also proven to be a fan favorite as it received so many praise from diners and even the animal rights organization.

“From its two hearty patties to its special sauce, this tasty burger puts a green newspin on fast food,” said PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “All the satisfying burgers on PETA’s national Top 10 list are proving that compassion can be a delicious business.”
