Morrisons Launches Vegan Alternative to Pigs in Blankets

Major supermarket chain Morrisons launches “Veggies in Blankets” as an alternative to Christmas appetizer “pigs in blankets” for the holidays.

The supermarket’s vegan sausages are made from a blend of tomato, mushroom, potato, and basil wrapped in a slice of aubergine.

“Pigs in Blankets are arguably the best part of Christmas dinner,” Simon Whittle, Morrisons’ party food expert, told Metro UK.

The vegan sausages are part of Morrisons’ 3 for £6 Christmas range that also features vegan sweet potato stacks and vegan tempura nests.

The supermarket also recently released a new vegan range “V Taste” featuring teriyaki mushroom noodles, mushroom bologna, sweet potato nut cutlets, butternut squash and chickpea curry, 3 bean chili non-carne, and katsu curry melts in order to cater to Morrisons’ vegan consumers.

“We’ve listened to customers who are looking for more plant-based options over the festive period and created a vegan version,” says Whittle.

The Veggies in Blankets are sold in packs of 10 and are now available in all Morrisons stores for £2.50.
