Until this Tuesday, July 20, 2021, the known profiles of Laura Pausini gave an account of her condition as a singer almost as an exclusive activity, beyond that hybrid that constitutes being a “television personality”, whose borders are as diffuse as the prestige that can add to an exceedingly successful career.
Therefore, it is a novelty that the artist born in Italy 47 years ago has announced her leap to the cinema, where she will make her debut as an actress as the protagonist of her own film project, produced by Amazon Studios.
The film will be directed by Iván Cotroneo, scriptwriter of I travel alone Y I have something to tell you, who will also sign the script, in partnership with Mónica Rametta (Words, A kiss). Its premiere is scheduled for 2022.

More than 70 million records sold
The film, which has not yet been titled, will be based on an original idea by the singer herself. With more than 70 million records sold worldwide, Pausini is one of the most recognized Italian artists worldwide and her international reach places her in a unique position as a soloist.
Pausini recently collaborated with songwriter Diane Warren on the song I do (Seen), of the movie The life ahead, for which it won the Golden Globe for best original song and was nominated for an Oscar.
With this new project, Pausini makes his film debut with a film that revolves around her and her extraordinary story. This project seeks to unite Pausini’s passion for cinema together with his musical vocation, through moments of his private and professional life never seen before.
Launched into the world of fame from its triumph in the section of new artists at the 43rd San Remo Music Festival, with its theme Loneliness, which would eventually become one of his greatest hits, Pausini has released 15 albums with recordings in Spanish, Portuguese, English, French, Catalan and Latin.

With love as the axis of her compositions, the singer also addressed issues related to social problems such as racism, war, homophobia, the environment and poverty, among others, in a gesture that he replicated off stage through his participation in different solidarity initiatives.
A story to tell
“I had been receiving offers for film projects for a long time, but I could not find anything that was special enough to dedicate my time and energy,” the singer said in a statement. “I didn’t feel the urge to tell my story and I was looking for an innovative script, “he continued.
“I realised that there was a story that i had never told that was important to me and that now I wanted to share. I am happy with the enthusiasm with which they have immediately supported my artistic idea, “he added.
Also winner of a Grammy and four Latin Grammys, in addition to composing the theme of the film starring Sophia Loren, Pausini previously, had collaborated in other audiovisual projects.
He had done it in series like In the name of love O Love without limits and in movies like Pokémon 2: Power of One Y A wedding in Tuscany.
