Italian-American restaurant chain Frankie & Benny’s added more vegan options to its menu to reflect the UK’s changing tastes and drinking habits.
Frankie & Benny’s massive menu shake-up, which focuses on new customer tastes and growing demand for plant-based options, is designed to appeal to not only families but also adults on a date night or evening out with friend with an emphasis on the Friday and Saturday night market.
Out of the 26 new “grown-up” dishes, 7 are vegan and 4 are vegetarian. It features a whole new range of salads and desserts, including an innovative vegan full English fry up designed to expand the breakfast offering.
The new vegan and vegetarian options in the menu include Vegan Loaded Skins, Meatballs Al Forno, Cannelloni, Viva La Vegan Cheeseburger, Tortellini ‘Nduja, Capra (goat cheese salad), Italian Hot Pizza, Vegan Cheese Fries, Vegan No-Cheesecake, Lotus Biscoff (vegan), Toblerone Cheesecake, Tiramisu, breakfast pizza, Vegan Fry Up, and Vegan scrambled eggs.
The new menu also includes 5 new alcohol-free drinks added after the restaurant chain’s research revealed that the youth are drinking less and after customer feedback asked for alternatives to soda.
The new drinks include Peroni Libera, Brooklyn Special Effects, Scavi & Ray Prosecco, a Spritz, and a Mimosa.
“This spring we are really excited to be introducing the types of dishes that our customers have been asking for as they tell us that they want to see more of our Italian American heritage on the menu,” Holly Davies, Frankie & Benny’s Head of Food Development, said in a statement sent to Vegan International News.
“Listening to our guests is something that we are proud to be taking seriously through the introduction of some recognizable classics, new ingredients and our own Frankie & Benny’s twists on some previous favorites.”
“Take our new Meatballs al Forno starter, an homage to all that is great about Italian- American food, a celebration of great quality simple flavors, done well and served with heart.”
Aside from going back to its roots, Davies revealed that Frankie & Benny’s will also add spicy dishes, bright fresh salads, new beverages, and other interesting options that will make its diners excited for summer.
He added: “In addition, following the great success of our extensive vegan range launched in January, we now look to focus in on the dishes that our guests have really loved, creating further ways for them to enjoy every aspect of our menu across every day; including our new breakfast vegan fry up and the launch of our incredibly indulgent vegan loaded fries and vegan cheesecake.
“We are really looking forward to our guests reaction to this new menu as it is the first of many exciting new ideas that we plan to put in front of them this year.”
Frankie & Benny’s new massive menu will be available in all its locations from May 14.
