Socially responsible brand Purple Impression will launch a line of eco-friendly hand-embroidered sneakers that are 100% vegan.
“Fuse,” the new vegan sneaker line dubbed as the “Vogue of Vegan Sneakers,” features a classic sneaker design with an eco and artisan makeover.
It is made from breathable organic cotton upper and sustainably harvested natural rubber that is FSC certified, has arch support for comfort that other canvas shoe on the market lack, machine washable, PETA approved, and completely biodegradable.
The shoes were designed in San Francisco, hand-embroidered by women artisans in Pakistan who earn a fair wage, and produced in a fair trade certified factory — earning it the “The Best New Product Award” in the Hand Made Global Design section of New York Now, one of the biggest and reputable trade shows in the sustainable and artisan industry.
“Hand embroidery is a centuries-old diminishing art that needs to be preserved. We are preserving this art by bringing it into modern design and everyday fashion. A sneaker,” Purple Impression Founder Drakshan Khan said in a statement sent to Vegan News.
“This is something that’s never been done before with the kind of transparency that we are able to give.”
“With climate change a big issue these days, we have made a classic sneaker design completely eco-friendly and have elevated it with our artisan’s hand embroidery, making luxury more affordable and sustainable.”
Afshan Khan, Purple Impression Co-Founder, added: “Shoemaking today is still a very manual process which means a lot of human hands are involved in the manufacturing of our shoe.”
“This makes fairtrade and ethical working conditions an important consideration in our manufacturing & purchase decision.”
Purple Impression’s new vegan and sustainable sneaker line will be available on April 22.
