Ex-vegan YouTuber and athlete Tim Shieff said that killing an animal with his own hands is the “next stage” for him now that he went back to eating animals and their by-products.

In an interview with The Times, Shieff shared his journey toward and away from veganism, including the backlash he received for eating fish and eggs again due to health reasons.

Now that he is back to being a meat eater, he is planning on killing an animal with his own hands for food, adding that eating a grass-fed cow is vegan.

“I think a cow, grass-fed, could be the most vegan product in terms of food because one animal could sustain someone for three months,” Shieff told The Times, adding that he will eat an “occasional” steak if it comes from a local cow.

“I do feel like the next stage for me is to kill an animal myself. I’ve got to really face this.”

Shieff quit veganism due to health issues, claiming that he had been “waking up stiff” every day and had become “desperate for health” after his 35-day water fast in which he only consumed distilled water.

ETHCS, a vegan clothing company founded by Shieff, dropped him to continue with the same vegan values it was founded on.

Shieff faced backlash from vegans for his comment in his recent interview, with some pointing out that his health problems might have been caused by years of drinking his own urine, adopting extreme diets, and doing a 25-day water fast.

A vegan wrote on Twitter: “Where’s all you vegans now telling us we should ‘be nice’ to Tim Shieff?? ‘He’s going through a tough time’…bullshit, I’m not an apologist for someone wanting to actively kill animals and jizz over fish.”

Another vegan added: “No wonder a #Veganlifestyle is seen as extreme & unhealthy..Tim Shieff drinking his own urine for 2 years, doing a 35 day water fast does not compute with me as eating #Vegan…What do others think?”

“Absolutely. He’s made himself sick with his strange diets & then blames it on veganism. I bet, in a year’s time he’ll be ill again & he’ll blame it on eggs! Hhmm, you don’t think drinking urine for 2 years has contributed to your health issues then, Tim? Unfollowed on YouTube!” said another.

“Tim and all the others coming out saying they are not vegan anymore all have health and other issues and were never truly vegan to begin with. Plus people have to remember that he didn’t just drink his own piss he dank other peoples as well. Very mental,” another vegan added.

Gojiman, a nutritionist who is currently completing a Master’s degree in Nutrition, summed up the common traits of ex-vegans: arrogance, adopting extreme diets, belief in conspiracy theories, and going vegan for the health instead of for ethical reasons.
