Movies based on video games have always created a division of opinion in the general public. Many attempts have been made to achieve that much sought-after film adaptation that manages to like enormously and to please the most fans of the original stories. An extremely difficult job and a huge desire in the industry.
The bar for video game adaptations has never been high. The attempts of Silent Hill (2006), Mortal Kombat (1995), Tomb Raider (2001), Assasins Creed (2016), Warcraft (2016) or the famous Resident Evil saga starring Mila Jovovich made a lot of money at the box office, but not be the great ideas that were promised and away from the original. This could be changing as for a couple of years they have begun to prepare more and more productions brought in video game stories for both the small and the big screen, which makes us dream of faithful adaptations of the world’s classics gaming.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City

Tom Holland and Mark Walhberg will star in the film adaptation of the classic video game from the studio Naughty Dog. The adventures of Nathan Drake in his search for treasures around the world is scheduled to hit theaters on February 11, 2022.
The Last of Us
One of the most important video games of the last decade has been The Last of Us, which is why Sony has opted for a huge and high-quality production for this next HBO series. Metal Gear Solid
Actor Oscar Isaac will be in charge of giving life to Solid Snake, a soldier who seeks to rebel against an oppressive system in the very distant future, in the future Metal Gear Solid movie. The original video game was created by the great Hideo Kojima, one of the most important figures in video game development. Only a few have been seen conceptual designs, but the release date is not yet known.
Ghost of Tsushima
As reported by the portal Variety, the director of the famous film ‘John Wick’, Chad Stahelski, will be in charge of bringing us the adaptation of this Sony video game that with very little travel (it premiered in 2020) will already see the light on the big screen. Few details are known beyond this, but it sure won’t disappoint.
The first installment released in early 2020 was well received by critics and from the fans, so a sequel was imminent. On this occasion, Idris Elba will be part of the cast, and will see his planned appearance in this installment on April 8, 2022.
The film industry looks once again, albeit on a larger scale, in the world of video games in search of new ideas. It remains to be seen if this new attempt to bring these adaptations to film and television becomes a new fiasco or ends up being a definitive victory.
